Canada – Quebec Residence Program

Canada is a country in the northern half of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world’s second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area. Canada’s border with the United States is the world’s longest binational land border. The majority of the country has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer.

Quebec is the second-most populous province of Canada and the only one to have a predominantly French-speaking population, with French as the sole provincial official language.

Quebec Residence Program

The Canadian province of Quebec offers investors a competitive program for obtaining permanent resident status in one of the world’s safest and most advanced countries. The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) admits experienced business people and entrepreneurs seeking to either establish a company or make an investment in the province. Established in 1986, the QIIP has for decades been the world’s second most popular residence by investment program.

Requirements

Investors seeking Permanent Residence via the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program must meet three main eligibility requirements:

The principal applicant (including spouse) must possess legally obtained net assets of a minimum of CAD $1,600,000 an amount which may not include any donations received by the principal applicant in the six months prior to applying for permanent residence.

Principal applicants must document managerial experience either in a legal, farming, commercial, or industrial field. The principal participant will have had to manage at least two full-time employees over a period of no less than two years and must have obtained such experience in the five years prior to applying for residence.

Government Securities

Principal applicants must demonstrate a bona fide intention to settle in Quebec Province and invest CAD$800,000 in non-interest bearing government securities for a period of five years.

Application Process

Principal applicants submit an official immigration application for a Quebec Selection Certificate.

Once the principal applicant is selected for permanent residence by the Government of Quebec and receives a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ – Québec selection certificate), the application is further considered by the national Canadian Government, which holds ultimate decision-making authority with regards to the application.
